Well, as you can probably tell from my lack of posts, my laptop has finally bit the dust. I guess I can't complain too much, I've had it over three years now. And I have to admit, it has been a very good laptop, especially with all the "trauma" it's been through. One day, I was putting some things in the back of my van and when I closed the back, my laptop happened to be a little too close to the edge. When I turned it on, half my screen looked like a big black oil spill.
I've been looking around online trying to get a ballpark price on a new notebook. Wow...expensive. Not to mention, I just read a news article the other day about the prices of electronics getting ready to skyrocket. Everybody recommends that if you're in the market for new electronics, you might want to go ahead and buy now since the prices will be going up, up, up.
It has never been a question as to what type of computer I would use. I have always had a PC. But now, I am intrigued with a Mac. The commercials are hilarious and everybody I've talked to that use them say they are great. Unfortunately, they are about 3 times as expensive, too. I would like to know if there is anybody out there that can sell me on a Mac by sharing their own "crossover" experience from a PC to a Mac. Please help...I'm torn. I need to know is the Mac worth the price or just settle for what I can get with a PC. What do you think?

I've been hearing a lot of good feedback about Mac with regards to security however it's more expensive and quite hard to be familiar with.. Thanks for sharing. Care to xlink?
I know. I've heard a lot of great things but that price tag is killing me. A coworker purchased a MAC desktop and that machine is awesome. It definitely would take some time to get adjusted to.
I'm always in for a good xlink.

Mac's are quality machines with good software, and with the new Intel processors there are even a few ways to run Windows on them.
However, if you are comfortable with Windows and have several applications you use, meaning you have data you depend on in these applications, and have spent significant amounts of money on these applications, then stick with a PC.
My first computer was an Apple II, so I like the Apple company. However, after two degrees in Computer Science, I still have trouble using a Mac. It's just not what I'm used to, and I find PC's easier to use, even with occasional crashes, and constant maintenance. This is a personal preference, and I'm sure others would disagree.
The one Mac I own, I used primarily to convert home movies to DVD, as the Mac software for this was superior at the time. I have thought about another Mac from time to time, but the Pro and Con list always leans towards the PC.
I'd advise you to invest some time in choosing the most suitable laptop replacement, and then insure it via Safeware, and back it up with Mozy or Carbonite in case you have another accident.
I personally have always had a pc, but have got to work on plenty of macs. I love the mac! The only reason I never owned one, was there used to be issues with files not being compatible with pc, and this makes doing business with pc people hard. That is no longer the case, and my next computer will be a mac.

Go for the Mac! You will be very happy in the long run, especially with the Vista fiasco still not really cleaned up.
I've used many PCs, including HP, Dell and Gateway. The only PC that can even remotely compare to a Mac is an HP, which still isn't even half the computer a Mac is. Overall, Macs are superior. If you're into graphic design, web design, video editing and music production, you, too, will prefer Macs. Even if you just need a computer for typing word documents and surfing the web, a Mac will be better. Why are Macs better for basic computer users? That's simple: the Mac OS X is built on a UNIX foundation which ensures security and resists crashes. Also, unlike most PC-only users tend to believe, Macs can run MOST games.
So what did you get? I would go for the mac, now that you can run windows on them too there is no reason to get a pc.
I am PC all the way. Tried out a mac and it was OK but just felt really weird with the slightly different interface. However, I heard that you don't get the BSOD (blue screen of death) so that could be a bonus lol. But I'm happy with my Dell laptop.
hi sheryl, it's been a while since I =visited you. Just want to ask you a favor to please change my old URL from http://personalblogmoney.blogspot.com to http://www.moneyonlinethoughts.com. I am also inviting you to visit my other blogs. Have a great day

I finally broke down and jumped on the Mac train this week. My Mac Book Pro will be here soon and I cannot wait.
Macs used to be so much more expensive but they are getting so affordable and with Vistas problems they are really the way to go now.
I honestly still prefer the PC.
I have always wanted a Mac, but like you said, they are just so stinkin expensive. You get what you pay for, but for what you get with a pc and the low price, you can buy 3 computers.
I have to admit I was about to buy a Mac when a friend stopped me. He found all the brand new parts and software needed to build a quad core PC for $600. You can't beat that!
Personally I want to hear more about building this affordable quad core!
Don't go mac I have only heard bad things from my friends. I recommend an IBM personally I have had mine for years and it still runs very quickly. Anyway good luck with your hunt.
I started using Macs back when they had clear advantages over PCs, these days you have fewer application choices for a higher price.
These days I use a mac to surfer the web, to fly under the radar of most viruses out there targeting Windows OS.
PC is better. Everyone uses it. Mac is cool, Mac is stylish, but Mac is not very popular...
It is like comparing Windows and Linux....
In this commercial Mac is certainly a cool one. But in real life PC is much more popular and all-purpose even with a lack of style.
If to speak about mac and pc, I prefer oc. However, mac has better security, pc is more convenient for me.
